About Lipka
As an educational institution for environmental training, Lipka is one of the oldest and largest organizations in the Czech Republic to focus on public environmental education. Under its wide range of activities Lipka offers one-day or longer environmental educational programmes in schools and pre schools whose student attendance is over 20 000 students every year. In the afternoons, Lipka’s five training facilities buzz with children fully engaged in science and art courses as well as adults enjoying their handicrafts courses.
Our institution also safeguards teaching of environmental-based subjects at several universities and promotes the systematic training of pedagogues in the field of environmental education. In addition to this, a number of public events for families with children are organized by our employees yearly. We are doing our best to be a refuge for perceptive children and adults who are interested in the future development of the environment and who are willing to play an active role in making the world a better place.

Lipová
The training facility Lipová is situated near the city centre in a functionalist villa surrounded by a natural garden which is open to all visitors. The key focus of the facility are environmental education programmes, organized in the mornings for students of South Moravian primary and secondary schools.
In the afternoons the building fills with children attending natural science and art courses and adults coming for handicrafts clubs. The latter focus on work with natural materials and take place throughout the week, including weekends. Families with children visit Lipová all year long to attend events organized for the general public with children participating in summer, autumn and spring camps.
An important part of this facility’s activities are its seminars for university students, teachers and pedagogues from the South Moravian region, as well as tutorial work for trainees and people who are interested in taking practical training here.
Rozmarýnek
Rozmarýnek is the second oldest training facility of Lipka. It designs and implements morning natural science and environmental educational programmes attended by students of primary and secondary schools. Thanks to its proximity to a forest and the Svratka River, a major part of Rozmarýnek’s programmes can take place outdoors if the weather permits.
Afternoon courses and camps are mostly frequented by children from Jundrov, a neighbouring part of Brno. Most of these activities focus on the natural sciences or the breeding of animals.
Rozmarýnek’s unique feature is its natural permacultural garden, which is open to all visitors. The garden houses a number of interesting structures as well as unusual elements which sustain the distribution of wild animals on the cultivated land. The unique garden enables Rozmarýnek to run courses on permaculture for the professional public, pedagogues and enthusiasts from afar.
Rychta
Rychta is situated in the village of Krásensko in the Drahany Uplands. Its primary activity is the organization of week-long residential programmes with a natural science, environmental and geographic focus designed for secondary school students. From spring to autumn Rychta organizes one-day field excursions to the nearby Moravian Karst and Drahany Uplands. In winter it offers one-day environmental educational programmes.
Rychta also organizes public events and youth camps, works closely with the local government and provides space and support for all kinds of events organized by children and educational organizations.
Jezírko
The training facility Jezirko is situated in the picturesque forests in the vicinity of Soběšice, a part of Brno . Its primary focus is one-day and residential educational programmes for schools of the South Moravian Region. A major part of the training takes place in the forests surrounding the facility, giving the children a hands-on approach to learning and stirring their emotional attachment to forests and wildlife through activities which focus on stimulating the sensory perception of nature. Its indoor educational programmes are designed to utilize special training and play elements in the facility’s building.
Jezírko is also a meeting place for children attending afternoon courses and clubs and camps on holidays. The courses focus primarily on natural sciences, tourism and processing of natural materials. Families with children visit the facility to attend various public events.
Students of Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry in Brno represent another target group. The facility’s employees participate in supervising bachelor and master’s theses and facilitate internships and observations in educational programmes for students of pedagogy.
Kamenná
Kamená is the youngest training facility of Lipka. It focuses on the environmental education of adults, primarily teachers and develops a system of teacher training which encompasses long-term specialized studies for school coordinators of environmental education as well as individual thematic seminars for teachers of different subjects and all school grades.
Kamenná coordinates a network of South Moravian schools interested in environmental education, providing them with consulting services on how to incorporate environmental issues into teaching and school operation. It also participates in the “Ecoschool” international programme and pays close attention to topics such as teaching about one’s region or natural school gardens.
Lipka’s eco teachers also prepare future teachers for their vocation – by teaching university students of pedagogy about environmental topics.
